NBL - UCI Silver State Nationals 2007 - [Mongoose] Rupe Opens 2007 season with a pair of 2nds Las Vegas, NV -- November 06, 2006 -- Attendance: 6,250 MONGOOSE PARTICIPANTS: Eric Rupe: Elite Masters: 2nd Elite Masters: 2nd This past weekend in Las Vegas, was the 2007 season opener for the NBL & UCI. For 2007, the UCI has officially added the Elite Masters class as a Championship class to its UCI BMX World Championship schedule. You can bet on Big Daddy Rupe being part of the USA Team. Eric skipped the entire 2006 NBL season in an attempt to focus on the ABA circuit, but he plans to hit both sanctions in 2007. After a few ?off weekends? lately, Big Daddy stepped it up and the results showed it. He got the hole shot in Saturday?s main event and was really getting his pull on. He blamed it on bad track lighting, as he bobbled a bit on the second jump and subsequently relinquished the lead to eventual race winner, Jason Carnes (Redline). He chased Carnes around the track, but just couldn?t catch the speedy Texan. Sunday?s main event went down almost the same way. This time Rupe and Carnes got out of the gate side by side and went elbow to elbow all the way to the first turn. Rupe had to give in, as he was stuck on the outside of turn one and tuck in behind Carnes. He did his best to stay with the leader in hopes of making a move, but it just wasn?t to be as he had to settle for second place again. Not a bad way to start the new season in the NBL. Look for Mongoose and Eric Rupe at the next ABA National event in Tulsa, OK on Nov 24-25-26, 2006.
